Quirky Assert

I haven't checked everyone's blogs in awhile, so I just noticed that Jacquie tagged me. So here goes!

Here are the rules:
1. Mention the person who tagged you.
2. Mention the rules on your blog.
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
4. Tag 6 other
bloggers .

1. I love, love, love the smell of wet cement/dirt. Most people think what they love is the smell of rain, but it is actually the wet cement/dirt they are smelling. When I was little I used to lick the cement just so I could smell it wet!

2. I love to gut fish. I like the fishing part, but I love cleaning them more. Although I can't kill them if they aren't already dead, I can cut them open with no problem. Strange, I know.

3. I love a new windshield as much as most people love new socks. I hate having an old windshield with cracks and pits in it. I just got a new one last week and it made me smile every time I got in my car!

4. I play with my knuckles when I am bored or nervous. In fact, I pretty much have calluses on the middle finger knuckle on both hands. I know my family knows this about me, but I don't know if anyone else has ever noticed.

5. I HATE going to bed at night, but I love to sleep. A little ironic, I know.

6. I like to have things to play with in my mouth, marbles, pennies, rings, etc. It was always a problem when I was little...I swallowed a lot of money!!!

I am tagging Martha, David L., Gladys, Alli, Julie, Ellen. Have fun!

Swimming Champion of the World

I was at the post office yesterday and was at the counter next to this cute old lady who had to have been at least 80 years young. I hear her say, "I need to send this to Michael Phelps", the postal worker replied "Do you have his address?" The old woman says, "I don't need his address. I addressed it to 'The Swimming Champion of the World' and I am sending it to Boston. I am sure he will get it". Haha! She was adorable!

Update Long Overdue

Wow, It's been a long time since I wrote last. I don't think anyone reads this anyways, so it doesn't really matter! :)

Let's see, what has been going on? Daniel and Gladys moved to VA and they are doing well besides the fact that Daniel hasn't found a job yet. He has been working temporarily for this guy that delivers purified water, but it doesn't pay much. He may be getting a job with a contractor doing finishing work, which he is really good at and the job pays well. We're all praying he gets that job. We chat on the web cam with them every Sunday, so we get to see the kids too. Most of the time they are pretty rowdy and have to leave the room, but it's fun to see them and say hi. Isabel will be going to kindergarten this year and starts in a couple of weeks. She is excited, she has wanted to go to school for awhile now.

I have just been busy working, doing vinyl and playing with my sistas. It's so nice being close to my family. I wish I lived even closer, but 20 minutes isn't that bad.

I don't remember if I posted on here about finding my long-lost friend Matt. We worked together 7 years ago up at the Rockin' C Ranch. We were really good friends, but lost contact after his mission. Well I found him back in April on facebook! :) I was so happy, I thought about him a lot over the years, and never forgot about him. He went to China for two months before I had the chance to see him, but when he got home we went to dinner. It was so good to see him and get a Matt hug. The next week we went to a ReAL Soccer game with his friend Joe, a roommate of Matt's, Kelsey, Heidi and their friend Lexi. I haven't seen him for a couple of weeks now, it's about time we get together again. I have missed him.

As you all know, John moved back east in June. It's been boring on the weekends without having his shows to go to. I chat with him every now and then, so that's been fun. He came back about a month ago to do a couple of private shows and work on his new record. He did a show on Pioneer Day at Liberty Park, it was nice to see him again. We talked to him afterwards and he said home wasn't what he expected it to be and he was thinking about moving back. We told him he should! He said he was afraid people thought he was a wimp and had just given up. We told him to forget about it and move home! Last week he also started a tour with a band called We Shot the Moon. We went to his show in Odgen Thursday night and his show in Provo on Saturday night. At the show Thursday night he announced that he was moving back to Utah!!! Yahooo!!! He is finished with his tour and will be sticking around for awhile finishing his new record. I can't wait until that comes out. He had given us a demo c.d. before he moved back east, but he said the new record is going to be totally different because he has written a lot of new songs. It comes out September 26th!

My cousin Mandy moved to Mississippi because her husband is going to law school at Old Miss'. It was sad to see them go, they have the cutest kids and Mandy has always been a good friend to me. I will miss them. They plan on coming back to Utah when they are done with school, hopefully they will. I will have to go out and visit them soon. I also found out that my cousin Rashelle's husband, Rhett, is joining the Marine's so they may be moving to VA for 6 months for his training, then he will be stationed in SLC. They will know the end of this month whether he was accepted into Officer's School.

The family is doing to good. Heidi, Kelsey and Michael are all working for my dad, and Heather is too a couple mornings a week. They are staying busy and having fun. Michael is going to take a few classes at the High School this fall, so we'll see how that goes. I think it will be good for him.

Oh, I almost forgot. I had a Summer Tea Party with my friend Jacquie, her mom and sisters and our friend Angela. It was so much fun! I need to get pictures from them and post them. I was too busy hosting, I didn't get any pictures of my own!

I think that is about it for now. next time I won't wait so long to post again! :)

A Little Piece of Me

This last week has been bittersweet. Spending time with Daniel, Gladys and the kids before they more has been so much fun, but also hard because we all knew that the inevitable was coming: their moving to Virginia.

On Saturday we had a garage sale (got sunburned and heat stroke!) and then Heidi, Michael and I took Isabel and Danten to see Kungfu Panda and then they slept over. We were all deadheads though because we were so drained from being out in the sun all day. And I didn't feel good because I had sun stroke. We all went to bed early.

On Sunday we had a going away party for them. We invited all our family and friends and had a grand old time. It was fun to have everyone together. Most of our extended family came, there were only a few missing so it was like a big family reunion.

Monday night Gladys wanted to go up in the mountains and have one last smorefest before they left so we bought our smore supplies and went up the canyon only to find out that there were fire restrictions. We decided to go back to mom and dad's and just do it in our fire pit there. It was so much fun (even though I don't like smores). :)

Tuesday night they needed help cleaning their house and finished packing so we went over and cleaned and/or kept the kids occupied. The house looked great when we were done.

Wednesday night was the last night! :( We all kind of just walked about avoiding the inevitable again; saying goodbye. Around 10:30 the kids decided they were ready for bed so we all knew it was time. Daniel had run to the store, but we started our bawling and hugging and kissing and then did it all over again when Daniel got back. Like mom said, this is different than when Daniel went on his mission because we knew he would be back in two years. We don't know when or if they will ever be moving back. I don't know that I have ever seen Kelsey or Michael cry, but they were both bawling. Heidi had the hardest time, she and Daniel are really close and of course she loves the kids. I wish them well in their new adventure, but I am going to miss them terribly. It feels like a piece of our family is missing. They are going to grow up so much and we are going to miss it.

Weddings and the East Coast

Well, John is gone and I miss his face already! We chatted for about 30 mins. last night and he is going good. He said it's good to be home, be with his fam. He has his first show in five years tonight. I am sure it will awesome, as his shows always are.

Last night I went to my friend Jenna's wedding. She is gorgeous and made a beautiful bride. They had a sweet ceremy and then we basically partied for the next four hours. Their photographer, Ryan Christensen (http://www.innovativephotography.net/), set up a "studio" and took funny, goofy pictures of all the guests. We had so much fun thinking of things to do.

I wish Jenna and Jeremy the best, they are such a cute couple and incredible people.

Tonight we are getting family pictures done before Daniel and Gladys move. We are using a photographer we have never heard of before, but found him on the internet and his portfolio looks great. We will see how it goes! I'll post pics as soon as I have them.
